Chris Pearson has released version 1.0 of his Thesis theme with a huge load of built-in theme options. No, really, look at them.
I’d considered building a navigation manager—much like Pearson’s—into Thematic (and later, Hanzo) but eventually set it aside. I have a suspicion that smarter menus will become part of WordPress soon/eventually. We’ll see. Either way, it’s a pretty neat option for a smart-lookin’ theme.

I have a question about this. Not being a programmer myself, I do not know much about this but some of the people have complained about their themes/site is being slow because of the theme admin options, the more the options, the slower it will be.
Could you shed some light on this?
It depends on the options and the theme. I really don’t think it’s concern anymore thanks to plugins like WP-Super Cache. I do believe WordPress is also looking at making caching part of the core, making it even less of a concern.
I use it now - and I really like it. Just with one hour work and some nice fotos from istockphoto it looks ok. Andreas
If you haven’t seen version 1.1 of the Thesis Theme you should take a look. Chris has now added even more options, in particular allowing you to change the number of columns and column widths, as well as all the fonts. I have some screen shots here: http://www.thesistheme.org/what-are-my-options/
