i have no idea if DW is messing up the files, but this problem does seem unique to you. Though sometimes when you change a theme's name while it is active WP might think the theme is broken and revert. Can you activate it after the title is changed?

give a different text editor a whirl. i like notepad++ but it is windows only. i'm trying to make the switch to

http://www.sublimetext.com/

and so far it is very, very pretty. textmate and coda are also supposed to be good.

what if you just open the file in a regular notepad?

Hi,
I'm creating a child theme for thematic (0.9.7.7). Which installs & activates within WP 3.3.1 with no problem - however, as soon as I make any amendment (even to the description/author) to the style.css file within the child theme it all goes wrong, WP then fails to recognise the child theme at all & reverts to Twenty Eleven by default (under 'Appearance' > 'Themes').

I'm using the child sample style.css file that comes supplied with the main theme & have tried editing the file within both Dreamweaver CS5.5 & also within the WP editor. Any edit within DW breaks it, editing within the WP editor initially gave the error 'theme does not exist'. I have just pasted a few styles into the WP editor & that has saved / updated ok, but I'm much more comfortable working within DW.

Is DW doing something to the document type to break it? I'm simply opening, editing & then saving.

I'm working locally on my mac using MAMP.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
