I am developing a custom child theme and I use the category called "portfolio" just as a flag: all the posts with that category are not standard posts but I use their custom fields, excerpts and contents to feed a particular template page using Ajax.

I would like to remove the posts "flagged" with that category everywhere else on the website: archives, categories, searches etc.

Is there an actual quick way to do that? I started overriding all the functions in my child theme but it was kinda tedious and I might overlook something...I was thinking maybe there is a better way to do that and afterwards even lock (hide) that category in the backend editor to avoid any user to break the theme...

Any suggestion will be appreciated
