Hi James,

You could try adding a padding to the .sf-menu li class in your css. But then the border is broken. I'm trying to figure that one out, still :)

I'm not sure what the size of your header picture is, but you should move the background header declaration in your css from the branding id (#branding) to the header id (#header), that way it's positioned in the part were both the branding and the access id sit in.

Another tip I can give you, try looking at other thematic child themes to figure out how they did things (I use firefox with firebug and figured out a lot this way)

I hope I helped you on your way a bit :)

Hey all,

I'm really new to web design and am trying to get stuck in with modifying Thematic using a child theme. I'm trying to change the the nav bar so that (1) the different tabs have some space between them and (2) so that they sit on top of the header image, rather than being stuck below.

Here's my site in it's current form: http://jameskennard.com/?page_id=2
(It's a work in progress!)

Also, as I'm likely to have many more CSS questions, I wanted to ask whether this was a good place to go for help? If I'm getting in the way of discussions more relevant to ThemaShaper, could anyone recommend a community that could help me out?

Thanks,

James
