   Hi All

   I am hoping this is possible. I have currently built a site at:
   lostwithiel.org.uk
   However, the opening page is somewhat cluttered and I am hoping to redevelop the theme somewhat.

   The opening page will be three equal columns with the image right across the page but thinner. The menus will re-locate to below the image and be drop downs. Below the content will be some additional news items, etc. The idea being an opening page that contains as much info as possible.

   Then I am hoping to take the theme into a two column theme with the sidebar widgets changing to reflect a reduced amount of content. i.e. to show latest news and what's on and possibly related posts (if it possible).

   In the drop down menus I want to show both categories and pages. Basically, a single page drop down with all other pages listed below this and then the rest to be category drop downs.

   Building three column and two sites is not a problem, it is whether it is possible to switch from 3 col to 2 col simply. Is it also possible to change the way widgets display on certain pages please? And any help with the menu system would be appreciated.

   Hey Rich,

   let me ask you a couple of questions:

   1. Frontpage
   - What should be the content in column 1, 2, 3?
   - Below the content .. does it mean that this area (single block) should span column 1, 2, 3?

   2. Other pages
   - Widgets should be more or less different on each page?
   - Other Pages should be content + one sidebar?

   Thanks for the reply.
   Front Page:
   Col 1 - Home page content and two widgets/asides below that have a excerpt of the last post in news and the last post in What's on. Danny did this for me with another site using asides so I am sure I can replicate it.
   Col2 - Calendar, what's on, gallery
   Col3 - Weather, latest news, Folder category list

   Other Pages -
   Col1 - post/page content
   Col2 - What's on, Latest news, folder category list

   Will do some tests this evening.

   - The change from 3 to 2 columns shouldn't be a problem at all.
   - The Widgets thing can be done using one of the plugins providing additional logic for the widgets.
   - Need to look into that menu thing .. could be tricky
