   Hello everyone. I would like to add a slider under my header, between the actual content of the site.

   my site: www.nzap.zxq.net

   I've been searching the forums high and low for complete instructions on how to do this, but have had no luck. That includes the PHP and CSS involved.

   For instance, http://themeshaper.com/forums/topic/tutorial-how-to-add-nivo-slider-to-thematic-feature-site#post-13749 The tutorial in this link doesn't seem to work anymore :(

   Is there any type of plugin/method that is known to work with the thematic framework for doing such a thing?

   since you seem like a coding novice i would suggest googling for a plugin. i can't think of it off the top of my head but i know i have seen several that create a featured posts slider.

   Wow - 'helgatheviking' is always busy... amazed at the level of contribution to these forums.

   @lifeinthefridge: If you do want to go the route of adding your own 'variety' then the AnythingSlider is one that I have had working... Once the files are downloaded the jquery can be added to your functions file into the wp_head and the css to your stylesheet... maybe then add the content as a function to thematic_belowheader.

   Just a pointer - hope you have success.

   Following on sowingseeds suggestion, you can create a function that calls your plugin, and hook that function into thematic_belowheader, like this:

   function add_featured_posts() { ?>
   
       <div id="features">
           <?php the_featured_posts_slider(); ?>
       </div><!-- end features --> 
   
   <?php }
   
   add_action('thematic_belowheader','add_featured_posts');

   Your plugin will have an FAQ or installation instructions as to what you need to call the plugin within a function.

   while i've been writing my own One Slider to Rule them All UI for putting sliders anywhere w/ any content... lets just say that has been hard.
