Okay, I feel as though I have asked some dumb ?s on here so far, but this may be the worst. I am quite new to php, but really want to learn how to use it efficiently. Anyhow, I am one of those types who needs to see the code to see what is already being done in order to figure out how to make it do something different. So I am interested in looking at the hooks-filters.php, which I thought was in the themes/thematic/library/extensions directory. So I checked both through filezilla and through cpanel and I do not see it anywhere. All I got is the following:
    comments-extensions.php
    content-extensions.php
    discussion.php
    dynamic-classes.php
    footer-extensions.php
    header-extensions.php
    helpers.php
    shortcodes.php
    sidebar-extensions.php
    theme-options.php
    widgets-extensions.php
    widgets.php

    ??

One would think, well maybe it isn't there - bad installation or whatever, but it has to be there because the theme (my child theme) and WP is working perfectly, which I assume it would not be if this file was missing, so where in the world is it??

Hey again Mike - I commented on this on your other thread - but just in case..

    look here
    http://themeshaper.com/thematic/guide/

    and look at content-extensions.php & header-extensions.php
    They're very well commented

Hey again - yeah I saw where you replied to my other post, but I must have missed this point. I apologize..I will look through this guide and those files to find what I am looking for. I had just seen so many references on the net to the hooks-filters.php file and I could not find it. Did there used to be a file called this and the items contained therein just change to these two files?

    Hey mike,
I'm still learning myself (which is why I pointed you towards info rather than providing you with any code)

I couldn't say if there was ever a hooks-filters.php in Themeatic - but chances are it exists in other themes/frameworks. One thing you really have to look at when reading tutorials is whether they're specific to a theme - that can be a major source of confusion (in my experience anyway.)

One of the many lovely things about Themeatic is this forum as well as Ian's site. There's a wealth of info on working with Themeshaper specifically and child themes in general.

Just spend some time digging around and you'll work it out.

Just be sure to work with a child theme and make your changes in your functions.php and you won't have to worry about 'global changes' borking all your hard work. (Or disappearing whenever the parent framework is updated.)

    Good luck!
