condition or function to show posts from same category in sidebar

Hi again,

Hope I'm not being an attention hog.

Problem of the day:

What's the best way to have the single.php detect what category the post is that is being displayed, and dynamically show a list of posts from the same category in the sidebar? I would rather not make multiple single.php files unless it is the only or best way.

I'm using the ListCategoryPostsWidget along with the context widget and that is working for now.

That's the way I would do it unless I wanted a completely different widget area to be displayed on single posts.
