Wonderful theme! I'm an amateur drawn to the fascinating world of blogging. Right now, trying to design a blog of my own with my basic html and design knowledge. Hit across thematic and it was love at first sight. I'm developing the blog locally on my machine with xampp.

How do i get a header image into it? i mean where do i insert the code?

And, i want a left column and right column (they r there!) but in different colors right down to the bottom and with the main-div it doesnt look possible to me. Any suggestions? what im trying to mainly follow is the design of zenhabits.net.

Any and all suggestion wud be like water in the dessert!!!!!

hey I was able to find how to put the header image, change the header colors and as bonus also make the title disappear from the screen!

but the left-right panel coloring (main-asides or primary/secondary containers?) still unsolved. plz help out.

guys!! been tinkering around and able to most of the things above - put the header image, changed colors and changed sidebar (main-aside) color too!

now finally, just one thing more - how to my own custom favicon - i have this nice logo and i have a favicon ico image too but where to put it and how to enable it??

any ideas??

Hi Him, try to add this to your functions.php:

function fav_scripts() { global $siteurl; if (empty($siteurl)) $siteurl = get_settings('siteurl'); $favurl = $siteurl.'/'.'';
echo ' <link rel="shortcut icon" href="'.$favurl.'youricon.ico" /> ' ; }
add_action('wp_head', 'fav_scripts');

where "youricon" is the name of your favicon file.

Please note that your favicon has to be upload in the root directory of your site.

Wow thanks danny! it did the trick and now i have a cool favicon too!

Next step - Ive a great header image on the left side of my header. On the right side i want to display quotes which can keep changing every week or so! Any ideas how to do that? I hv been looking for a plugin or widget but no luck so far.

I think you have to add a script that shows random quotes from a file or from a remote url. any other ideas?

- i found many plugins, like wprotatorimages. But i cant figure out how to put them in the head and how to control their sizing, font, and appearance in general.

- my secondary asides is again in problem. ( I had put a diff color in the right sidebar ) On the home page the main and side bars align perfectly till they touch the bttom bar. but on post page, with comments the main bar runs down and sidebar stays in betweeen leaving a white space of full width. Is there someway I can make the side bar ALWAYS run till the bottom?

Hi Him! WP image rotator gives me back a lot of errors, both in the administartion panel and the blog page. Please try another plugin.

about the second issue: could you provide an address for your theme? I can't figure out a solution without looking at the code. If you theme is not online could you send me a copy of your dir by email?

thanks! I'm also not very keen on Wprotator, actually I want a block of text to appear in the header (quotes) controlled by a background frequency where i can keep changing the quotes, have been to a dozen of sites and no results yet! but i'm still on!!

now the second issue: what i actually want is that - below the header and above the footer - on the right side, where the sidebar is - i want to give a background color to the whole sidebar but it should run from - below header to - above footer. any ideas how to get it done?

thanks! eagerly waiting. today i tried to put a div apart from <main> - i think it was in index.php - and then tried to specify the properties in my child theme style.css but it didnt work.

to change your sidebar background use:
```
#primary {
background:the color you want
}
```
or
```
#secondary{
background:the color you want
}
```
it depends on which sidebar you are using.

then you have to change
```
#main {
padding-top:0;
}
#primary {
padding-top: whatever you want
padding-bottom: whatever you want
}
```
in this way the sidebar has not have the same height of the content:

searh for ian's post in the forum - 'header image'. he has a simple solution. just paste that code; it's that easy!!

Hi Him,

I know this is a little off topic, but do you know if the theme template already includes <h1> tags or not?

I'm very new to HTML, and just want to check for SEO purposes. I obviously see that the title and post names are bolded and larger, but I don't know if that for sure correlates to having already placed the H1 header.

I checked the php code, but couldn't find the H1 tags...which is why I ask.

Yep. SEO is a big concern for me. Check out Firebug for Firefox. It lets you peek at the html. Or just use view source.
