Header menu, categories post, footer and colors. Who could help me?

    Hi, to start I want to say I can understand basic css en php code, normaly I just edit themes, but some things are too difficult for me to handle.

    The idea for the blog is a place where i can communicate ideas and longer blog publications. Id's like to have the categories under the header in a menu. Ander the pages menu in the top right corner.

    I've seen a post here about adding a header image but it involved moving the blog title away. Also I didnt manage tog et the button real closer to the header as the blog discription is betwean the header imange and the menu instead of overlaying the header.

    When someone clicks on a category I want a fixed blog post to be the first one listed, where the category gets explained incl pics and vids. How can this be pulled off inside a category page? I know there is a option in wp to do this on the main blog page, but this is diffrent?

    About the design i'd like it to be one 960 white page (with maybe diffrent color for the widget bar) and the background a darker gray. So as u can see in the image ther eis a bit of background visible on top and bottom. this seems to be a problem at the footer as i can only give it a color as a whole piece.

    Does anyone have an good looking, readable typology styling ready for thematic? Or is there any thematic theme out there that does greatly resamble my 'sketsh' and I could just edit small parts with my noob skills?

    I know its alot to ask, maybe someone can help me with code snippets or would someone be interested in developing a thematic child theme with these functions/layout?

    You could try this plugin (I havent' tested it) http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/readme/wp-sticky.html
    This is the fastest way.

    Chenge the background of the widget's bar is simple:
    add
    #secondary {
    background-color:YOURCOLOR;
    }
    to your style.css AFTER line 57 to override the previous color.

    removing the padding above and below your contents is simple too. add:
    #main {

    padding:0;
    }
    to your style.css (where you want to).

    the footer:

    you have to change the bg color of the footer to match the main bg color and then change the bg color of #subsidiary and #siteinfo to the color you prefer.

    The most important thing I'd like to know is about the categories. Is there a plugin or wp dashboard option that when you click a category you get all the experts of that category posts, but the first post is a static posts with introduction text?

    I have found this related information: Different Text on Some Category Pages http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates
    But this is just a bit of text and not a static post :( Is this possible at all? If not I'll just refer to a post with the custom text..

    you could try EXCERPT EDITOR plugin: http://www.laptoptips.ca/projects/wordpress-excerpt-editor/ it may fits your needs
