I had a day and a half to come up with our government's site in time for an annual State of the Nation Address delivered by the President.
The site is still in beta a lot of what the public can see is certainly not perfect. Most of the new cool stuff like custom post types and taxonomies for a photo gallery and a video archive is still being developed on the backend. Still a long way to go.
The site will be a legal gazette that will soon publish new legislation and also be an archive of national events and historic documents from 1901 to present.
Thanks thematic ! I now have my site all figured out.
I love thematic extreamly flexible
did some minor adjustments to my blogsite, http://www.blue2x.com , im addicted to thematic =)
Tried thematic to act as our frame work, not sure it is what we are looking for, meanwhile we are developing one of our own.
My first site themed with Thematic: http://simplyseleta.com/
@makecg This site is amazing. Also, thanks to you I have a new internet girl-crush.
Did some work for a small local comic publisher. Never used Thematic before. http://www.phoenixpress.rs/
Embedded a phpBB3 forum inside the page content of Thematic Feature Site :)
Finished up this site a couple of weeks ago for an aerial production company in the film industry. We'll be moving hosts soon though, current host is a bit on the slow side.
The text fader on the home page uses the jQuery cycle plugin. Pretty cool plugin it is
The Plagueround.... supposed to be a video site about infectious disease, but the intended author is now swamped w/ med school. Still I think it is one of my coolest to date.
next up i think i want to integrate more jquery. i know how now, just haven't done it yet.
I just finished my first project with Thematic and I am in lub. I'm an avid thesis user and I'm just so pleased with how useful this theme is proving to be. I might be able to go open source all the way!
nice work helga
http://kcastudio.com/ a web site for a friend of mine who is getting into photography.
@Helga: I second Johnny. Love that engraved effect. Site's very easy on the eyes.
@Evenrude: Promising site. The background graphic is *almost* distracting, but I'm super ADD and may not be the best source on "distracting." *grin*.
thanks guys! i am proud of that one. i wish it would get a little use!
I am really enjoying using Thematic and learning how to build a child theme (as I also learn about how Wordpress works -- recent conversion from Movable Type).
My child theme for my photoblog is still a work in progress: johnkeyes.com
My first go with thematic... any suggestions for improvement are very welcome...
@Lasson
wowsers, that must have taken an age to complete. stacks of fine details.
haven't any suggestions really.
nice work
Thematic makes learning Wordpress template building so much better and rewarding... I just finished my band's new website, and even if it's quite simple - I'm really impressed by how well everything works with the great help of Thematic these forums :) Thanks for the help!
This is the site: theTriosphere.com
@Trollsyn
thats a great example of how flexible thematic can be.
just interested, did you achieve all with just functions.php and style.css
or did you have to use page-templates, etc
I used it to design my site, and I wrote a post to praise it :) and to describe the experience to ppl who are not familiar with it. I'm sure I'll use it again. http://www.vibesphere.com/2010/11/how-i-used-the-thematic-framework-on-my-blog/
@ridgely - I agree on the background image... the photographer wanted it bad though. I may see if I can at least add some opacity to it.
@others - Some great examples (and inspiration) on this thread... Thanks!
@Jonny
I'm happy to say that everything you see is done only through functions.php and the stylesheet. It took me a while to reach the end result, but I found answer to all my questions on this forum! How about that ;) The hardest thing for me was actually to figure out what questions to ask rather than how to solve them, since I didn't have the slightest idea on how to do some of the things in my theme.
@Trollsyn
nice one. yes, the all the solutions are in the forum, can sometimes be hard to find tho
I'm using it for many, many uses:
For my site: http://deafmonkeys.com
It really has been a nice experience overall; one concern has been that for some reason certain widgets have a problem sticking to the database (even with a widget saver plugin) ... so that means when I backup the database & transfer the site to either localhost or the server certain widgets are gone. I have to recreate the widgets to have it working on both.
hi all! first off, thank you for thematic, ian and chris! it's awesome. i love it.
i've written a thematic child theme for my site, snarfed.org. feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
apart from the minimalist style and aesthetic, here are some of the features:
Hello people!
At least, i finished my first theme. Maybe i have to adjust some small things (i'm still not satisfied with the menu), but at this moment, it's good enough to me.
Unfortunately, i had to leave behind some tricks i would like to use, such as balloon tooltips... they were horrible, out of position in different browsers, a mess... But other jquery issues was solved, with A LOT of help from you all (Helga helped me so many times that i should pay for this!)
So thank you again, very much, to everyone who helped me, directly or posting in other topics that i've read and made my way easier.
Here it are: http://tutoriart.atbhost.net
Here's one I just finished:
Let me know what you think (you can switch the language in the top right corner)
This child theme uses:
- WPML
- Cufon
- Cforms
- Twitter Widget Pro
- All In One SEO pack
- Yoast Analytics
- Colorbox
