how to stretch the header image to the full width ?

Hi i see that there are space left behind at both sides of the header image. how can i stretch the image to the full width of the page. I also want to use the dynamic header plugin ( http://nicasiodesign.com/blog/category/wordpress-plugins/ )for which the code <?php show_media_header(); ?> shpuld be inserted in the header . I tried it under the <div header><header> but did not worked. thanks

Could you please provide a link? It is always easier to troubleshoot (at least for me) if there is something to look at. :)
