Moving to left column

    I am very novice.

    I wanted to have special promotions post for homepage only and logo for the other pages on left column while on right column it would be content, but the problem is that the special promotion area wouldn't move to the left column -- I tried to force the special promotion posts to move to the left with css but not working. I assumed that it is because of the sidebar widget as required to place? How do I place special promotions or logo on left column next to the content?
