Been having a look through this forum briefly while doing some ground work on my theme.
Came across the following post : http://themeshaper.com/forums/topic/difference-between-hentry-and-pn-selectors
Noted there was a css selector which enabled you to select the first, second, [n] post.
Was this removed?
For bonus points, can someone explain the class "hentry" to me? something to do with hAtom and microformats if I understand right?

Regarding p[n], its part of Thematic dynamic classes for posts. By default Thematic uses WP post classes. You can change this by overriding this in your child theme functions.php
Change this
if (!defined('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS')) {
define('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS', false);
}
to
if (!defined('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS')) {
define('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS', true);
}
Regarding hentry, its there just to make the HTML markup hAtom compatible. I was able to dig some links for you (informative for me as well):

I believe hAtom is to atom as XHTML is to XML. Please let me know if you find out more.

I meant to spend some time looking into the whole setting themeatic compatible post class to true and what effects that has. instead I have looked at what hatom is, and it is quite interesting...
it would seem making a site / page hatom compliment means it can be used as a sort of atom feed in its own right, without the need for a separate page, but of course requires that the feed reader be hatom aware, which I have no idea how many are!
