Hopefully this is a really simple question, but so far the answer defeats me. How would I go about removing the table styling so that it resets to the browser default? These show up fine on my current theme, but I'm attempted a re-design and upgrade to themeatic and they disappear completely.
...(I confess, I like to go dirtstyle from time to time and use a heavy border :-)).

what tables are you referring too. there are no tables in thematic that i know of, all pure gorgeous css.

I was meaning tables in posts, or rather blog posts where I have inserted a table myself.
Commenting out the Reset browser defaults url in my child theme kind of works - table borders show up as per the browser default - but it is a hack and causes problems elsewhere. I guess I'm referring to this and how I might override it and the stylings in the reset url:
/* table {
border:1px solid #aaa;
border-width:1px 1px 0 1px;
font-size:13px;
line-height:18px;
margin:0 0 22px 0;
text-align:left;
} */

hey buddy...
try reseting everything to 0 first, then apply your styles.
something like
table {border:0 none; border-collapse:collapse;}
tr {border:0 none}
th,td {padding:0}see how you go
If you're using a Child Theme, you can link to your own custom reset.css and default styles. That might be the easiest way to go about it.
Thanks, both of you, for all of your help! It looks as though creating a custom reset.css is the way to go here. I'm fiddling around with it in firebug as we speak trying to perfect it, but it is having the desired effect.

I have a question related to this topic. I would like the table outlines/grid lines to be hidden in a blog post/page content...see http://www.andreaschoening.com/test/ .
I changed the border to 0 in the html of the post but the horizontals and outlines stayed visible, only the verticals became transparent.
What do I have to do? Do I have to change the code from earlier ( see below )? What is the exact place I have to safe the code into my child theme? The reason why I ask for the exact location is because I am entirely new to this topic and I don't know how to create a custom reset.css or where I change the "Reset browser defaults".
Do you know an easy and simple way? If it not the most elegant one I wouldn't mind.

Did you work this out? (that link is to a 404)
You need to change the border to
border:0 none;
Remove the border-width all together (you don't need it since there's no border)
