Should I get Coda?

(3 posts)
  1. Hi Newbie here. I've been watching videos on Wordpress.tv trying to get up to speed on how to modify my ThematicPowerBlog. The video I'm watching right now by Chris Coyier - he uses Coda. It looks very convenient, but when I check out the site, it sounds like the software does a lot of things I'm not sure I need and costs $99. I'm not a pro-coder - do I need this? I need something better than TextEdit to edit the CSS.

I do have DreamWeaver by the way, if that would help.

Is there another software that would have the convenience of editing but maybe be more what I need - or is Coda so worth it that I should go ahead and get it? Thanks

I love Coda - but this is what I do, I'm on it all the time.
There are a lot of free or near free applications out there.
    Ian mentions a few here

Add Firefox + the web developer extension and/or firebug and you've got what you need for free or very close.

Dreamweaver isn't something I'd purchase, but since you have it, it's not a bad way to go either

  3. Thanks so much, Amygail. And thanks for the link. I've poked around a lot on the themeshaper site, but I hadn't found that page yet. I'l give those a try.
