what image attribute in my css should I adjust so my smileys dont appear too high like they are now?

The smileys in the comment section are fine though, its the blog content thats affected.

Try adding this to your style.css
.tse-smiley {
margin:0px;
vertical-align:text-bottom;
}I added that in child theme style.css but it didnt work :/ I used to figure it out easily when I had Boumatic theme. I might need to tinker thematic a little bit more to find out.
wooooo! I did it.. its in this code... changed 18px to 0:
.entry-content img {
margin: 0 0 0px 0;
}happy :)
