Turn off comments completely

    I disabled comments under "Discussion" in the WP admin, but "post a comment" is still showing on my posts.

    How can I disable it in the functions file for my child theme? Basic instructions appreciated.

    Helga,

    I've tried that and it doesn't work for me.

    It still prints the "comments closed" text. I'm trying to remove that also without editing core files.

    Also the secondary problem is.. when I try to upload a functions.php file to a child theme I get an error saying unexpected end? Makes no sense. It's closed properly.

    So any filters or actions I have to put in the thematic function.php, could that be my problem? It should inherit the settings of that function file though?
