  1. You know what would be really cool for Thematic? A plugin. A plugin that did to the default Thematic styles what the options in the Thesis theme are doing.

Structure options. Navigation options. Font options. Header image options. SEO options.

    Only better.

Totally free. Totally GPL. And it wouldn't compromise the lightness of Thematic for hard-core developers. It'd be a plugin.

What do you say? I have neither the skill nor time to code this up. But there're a ton of talented people using Thematic who can make this happen.

Do you want to see this happen?

  2. Yes! Bring it on!

With the right documentation, couldn't it could also become a case study for users to learn more about adding such functions, whether via plugin or via a child-theme functions.php file?

  5. Looking forward to 2.8, a tag cloud that will allow any taxonomy (categories) to be included in the cloud see: Template Tags/wp tag cloud. One that would also allow developers to specify, using the 'include' parameter, which tags or categories are included. It would be nice if such a widget could be included in specific pages as well as asides and enabled so there could be multiple clouds used throughout the theme.

  6. What's the status on this... I'm interested. The plugin idea is cool for extensive options but in some cases some more fundamental options for thematic could lighten the core and make it easier to work with.

Example: I just finished up a thematic project where I created a theme option that sets and allows the changing of a default layout from the three provided. The option then sets a new body class. Then combining all three layout stylesheets into one using the bodyclasses makes for a lighter, nimbler theme with more options and less code.

  7. Hi, I'd like to add to some ideas for the plugin. I'd like a configuration for the Search, Meta, and RSS widgets that are built into Thematic ;) I checked the status on the google page, looks like no one picked this up yet... I'm like Ian, neither the skill nor time, but I'm working on upgrading my skills with Thematic!
