    I like the wood panel theme background for thematic. Is there a download for that particular style?

    You probably need to do that yourself through the CSS. Make a child-theme according to the instructions you'll find here, and use a seamless wood texture as a repeating background for the BODY.

    If you have a template you're wanting to work with - let us see, and it will be easier to answer your questions...
