I use a plugin called MyCSS to add my own mods to themes- unfortunately the site seems to be down but a bit of Googling may find an old version. I agree, proper custom CSS would be a big step forward.

Hmm. After some brief research I may be able to do something here. Definitely on MNML. I’d rather use the configured TinyMCE that ships with WordPress though. More research required.

I only wish I knew how to invoke TinyMCE/The Visual Editor here. Not everyone knows how to read an HTML link let alone write one.

I like this idea. I always believed that anything that made it easier for the unknowing user is the right direction. The more options a user can change straight from the admin panel without touching any harsh code is better in my opinion.

Originally I had a simple plugin that hooked stuff that I needed to persist regardless of theme using wp_head() and wp_footer(). Currently this has grown in a much more robust plugin I’ve kept to myself. The whole point of this, as you say above, is so I can upgrade without worry.
