ThemeShaper Re-Themed

It’s been a while but we finally changed the theme on ThemeShaper! No need to scroll to the footer it’s using Further designed by the illustrious Takashi Irie. We’ve made a few modifications using a simple child theme but it’s pretty close to the stock theme. For now. I’m sure there will be many tweaks over the next few weeks and months.

For the historically minded this is the first theme on ThemeShaper.com not designed or built by me — we should have done that sooner! That said, I hope to continue the tradition of unusual design choices here with more experimentation and the use of cutting-edge magazine themes like Further (check out the infinite scrolling on the home page).

Let us know what you think!

    Woow… really a great design…
I really appreciate Takashi’s work… My blog runs with his Ryu theme.

  2. Hi Ian, The theme looks sleek! However it is aligned to left on 21″ iMac. Is it intended that way?

  3. I ❤ Further so much.

  4. Really nice look. I think it drops ie8 as well, which is awesome (I hate ie8)? I cannot tell because I am on Ubuntu.

Have seen this theme before, very nice design with modern and flat style.

  6. I don’t understand why anyone would left-align a layout. It’s entirely nonsensical to me.

The black sidebar seems a little heavy (like it either needs to be smaller or a lighter color), but I like that the articles now have shorter, easier to read lines. It makes it more magazine-like.

  7. The previous theme was a child of Duster, right? There’s any possibility to publish it on WordPress.org Directory?

    1. Hi Arthur, I’m not sure which theme you’re referring to, but Twenty Fourteen is now available to download: http://wordpress.org/themes/twentyfourteen

If that’s not the one you meant, could you please give me the name of the theme you’re looking for? Thanks!

      1. Hello Kathryn, sorry about the confusion. I’m talking about the previous theme of ThemeShaper, I have a screen of it. It’s an Duster-child theme, right?

    2. Hi – thanks for the screenshot! The ThemeShaper tutorial v.2 isn’t actually a child theme. Feel free to download the finished Shape theme and sample CSS stylesheet. It’s not in the WordPress.org repository but you’ll find its close cousin, _s, here: http://underscores.me/

      1. Hi Kathryn. Sorry, I think I can’t express myself well enough :/

I’m actually talking about the previous ThemeShaper theme, before the Twenty Fourteen (ex-Further). I’m not talking about the theme from the tutorial, but the theme activated on ThemeShaper when this screenshot was taken 😉

        1. Oh, I’m sorry I misunderstood! I checked with the team and that was indeed Duster, which is still available in the theme directory: http://wordpress.org/themes/duster If you’re looking for a newer but very similar theme, we do recommend Twenty Eleven, which was based on Duster: http://wordpress.org/themes/twentyeleven

          I hope this helps!

  8. Hello,

I’ù using this twentyfourteen theme on my site (http://luc.saint-elie.com- and picture are much smaller than yours and I fail to make the “top of the home page three featured stories work”..
    Any documentation somewhere ?

    Thanks in advance

    1. Hi there, since Twenty Fourteen has just been released, it now has its own support forum over at WordPress.org. Feel free to ask for help there:
