Formwork

Formwork is a brutalist theme for fashion and lifestyle magazines. Enormous uppercase headlines sit against small monospaced body text on a near-black page, and the front page is composed as a spread rather than a feed — unequal columns, one image to a cell, and a pinned column for featured stories. The structure is left on show: hairline rules divide the sections and frame the images, corners stay square, and paragraphs are indented the way a printed magazine sets them.

Structurally, there’s a fixed header and a sticky sidebar with pinned posts. The grid isn’t hidden: hairline rules mark every division and frame every image, so you read the structure before you read the content. Every corner is square to emphasise sharpness and there’s a hover effect detail that highlights the border on featured images.

The front page contains four independent queries, each pulling a single article, laid into unequal columns, which produces a hand-composed spread rather than an automatic list. Archives, Search and Index queries are listed fully as text.
